Materialisimo was a YouTube channel I created when I was 13 years old back in 2012. back then, I used to create vlogs on another channel called "El Chico Mosca" discussing various topics, and one of my favorite processes doing those videos, was editing. This project was born with the idea of creating a channel solely for random and funny content. My YouTube channel is no longer active, but remains as my highest achievement to date and has a very special place in me.

I handled every aspect of this project, I was in charge of thinking of unique ideas, recording footage (if applicable) and the entire editing process.

Origins:

In 2014, an internet meme trend started, it was called "MLG". This trend originated as a joke to mock video game montages from games such as Call of Duty. As I was an avid Reddit user and noticed the trend, I started creating videos in my free time, back then I was on the first summer of high school. I created videos, following the characteristics of the MLG genre, and posted my videos on Reddit. My videos started to gain popularity in the MLG community.

Development:

About half a year after I started making videos, my content began to get more and more sophisticated. I was no longer another "MLG creator", I was the guy who took one month to cook a video that blew everyone's minds. My subscribers back then understood that my channel was not about just pumping videos, but to create a masterpiece for years to come. This came out to be true, as my most popular videos are now seen as classics while many other creators from that time have now deleted all their videos from their channels.

Downfall:

As time went by, many factors started contributing to the downfall of my channel, some on the top of my head are: The Adpocalypse (severe cut in YouTube ad revenue), reduced popularity of the MLG genre and most importantly, lack of free time. My channel was something that started while I was in High School but I could not keep up the same pace. and the the previously mentioned factors, I simply stopped uploading videos in 2018.

Fun facts:

• I hold the world record for the most viewed MLG video: MLG Antivirus with 19M views.

• People still message me to this day saying they watched my videos when they were kids.

• My identity was never revealed the time my channel was active.

• My channel name is commonly misspelled as "Materialismo"

• I had a Patreon page for around 3 years.
